She performs a variety of music ranging from medieval to contemporary classical music as well as improvised and original music. She has performed in festivals like Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Holland Festival, Amsterdam Fringe Festival, Zürcher Theater Spektakel, Oude Muziek Utrecht, OdeGant and Donau Festival. Irene sings in ensembles like Cappella Amsterdam, Nederlands Kamerkoor and Groot Omroepkoor. She plays recorder in the renaissance consort The Royal Wind Music.
As a performer, singer and composer, Irene collaborates with visual artists, theatre makers and choreographers. She has composed music for works like Cow is a cow is a cow by Abhishek Thapar (Spring Utrecht 2021), Ordeal of Justice- The Epopee of Lucretia by Sonia Kazovsky in collaboration with Maya Felixbrodt and Moving Strings (Mondriaan Fonds 2022) and Kerogen Voices by Jimmy Grimma (Debatable Land(s) 2020). In 2022, Irene released her first compositions for jazz quintet with the label TRPTK. The album is called Kurkuma, it was supported by Amarte Fonds and featured as album of the week in the radio program Passaggio Late Night (NPO4).
Interdisciplinary performance is also present in her practice as a curator. Her initiative Encuentros is a multidisciplinary performance series for independent makers which takes place in Amsterdam and has received the support of Balkonscènes Fonds Podium Kunsten (2021) and Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst (2022).
In the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Irene studied a Bachelor in recorder with Erik Bosgraaf and a Masters in historical voice with Xenia Meijer.
