Soprano Alison Lau is from Hong Kong, and is currently based in Amsterdam. After graduating from the New England Conservatory in Boston and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Alison joined Opera Hong Kong as a young artist, and became the first classical singer in Hong Kong to record with Universal Music and Decca Records, working with them to promote classical music on mass media platforms. At the same time, Alison discovered a passion for baroque music. In 2018, Alison was invited by Eduardo Lopez Banzo to sing with Al Ayre Español in Berliner Philharmonie, and that concert tour was one of the defining moments that brought Alison to Europe eventually. In October 2021, Alison moved to Amsterdam to study Historical Performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Xenia Meijer. Since then Alison has performed with Ton Koopman’s Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir, Nederlandse Bachvereniging under the leadership of Shunske Sato and Masato Suzuki, and most recently as a soloist with Il Gardellino conducted by Peter van Heyghen.
