Cherubini (Florence, Italy) »;s:10: »biographie »;s:2161: »Born in Florence, since the beginning of her studies Martha favours the early music repertoire and a theatrical and expressive approach to performance. After graduating with honours from the Conservatory of Florence under the guidance of Romina Basso, she is currently earning her Master’s degree at Conservatory Maderna, with Maestro Gabriele Lombardi. From January 2024 she will attend the Master in Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

Martha has a particular interest for Renaissance secular repertoire, which she regularly performs with two ensembles cofounded by her. The first, PassiSparsi, is vocal ensemble specialized in the Italian secular repertoire of the XVI century, especially villanelle and moresche. In 2022 PassiSparsi is selected as a young promise by IYAP, wins the Attraverso i Suoni competition, and is invited by Early Music in Latvia for an artistic residence and two concerts. The second ensemble, Dulcedo Ardens, is a lute and voice duo that focuses of late XV early XVI century repertoire. The duo was selected in 2023 for the Fringe programs of Early Music Morella, Festival Renaixement and Utrecht Early Music Festival.

Martha collaborated with ensembles L’Homme Armé, Theatro dei Cervelli, Cappella di Santa Maria degli Angiolini, Cappella musicale di San Petronio, Coro della Cattedrale di Siena Guido Chigi Saracini and Nova Alta. In 2022 Martha takes part in the recording of Florentine music from Renaissance and early baroque with Theatro dei Cervelli, conducted by Andrés Locatelli.

Martha played the roles of Dirindina (Dirindina, D. Scarlatti), Belinda (Dido&Aeneas, H. Purcell), Proserpina and Musica (Orfeo, C. Monteverdi), Fortuna (Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria, C. Monteverdi) and Ninfa (La catena d’Adone, D. Mazzocchi). Martha performed in the premiere of the one-scene opera “Prelude and death of Sarah K.” by Francesca Gambelli and two works of musical theatre « Vite in cerchi » and « Il Sigillo » by Laura Manescalchi. Martha persues her interests in theater and historical gestures with Alberto Allegrezza, Ilaria Sainato, Luigi Di Fiore e Francesco Torrigiani.
