JOBE

Les Ombres, a pioneering baroque ensemble in the professional integration of young artists, are organizing the Young European Baroque Orchestra in collaboration with the Nuits Musicales d'Uzès festival.

A European professional integration project run by Les Ombres, the JOBE brings together each year artists — instrumentalists, singers, actors, and/or dancers — who are students at higher conservatories or in the process of becoming professional artists, around an instrumental or operatic project.

Carried out in two stages, the Young European Baroque Orchestra offers:
– a training period with coaches who are members of Les Ombres
– a period of concerts in festivals in France and Europe
– a springboard for involvement in professional productions with Les Ombres

Training
Introduction to orchestral playing and musical commitment within an artistic project. Meetings, exchanges, and training sessions with experienced professionals from the world of early music.
Concerts
Stage experience through several concerts at festivals and specialized venues, under professional, paid conditions.
Integration
A stepping stone to professional life through the integration of selected musicians into future productions by the ensemble Les Ombres.

Les ombres

The project of Les Ombres emerged from the close rapport between Margaux Blanchard and Sylvain Sartre at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Two timbres, two personalities, the same curiosity for forgotten repertories. The joint direction of the ensemble reflects its quest for diversity, renewal and modernity. Mindful of its relationship with audiences, the ensemble Les Ombres places emotion at the heart of its artistic propositions: the poetry of the performance shapes a programme whose harmony and architecture must move the spectator. Nevertheless, its ‘historically informed’ practice is unquestionably in the musical tradition of the pioneers of the Baroque. Les Ombres carries out research projects into the influence of French music throughout Europe and participates in the rediscovery of masterpieces of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

NUITS MUSICALES D'UZÈS

A city of Art and History, Uzès is a privileged place for early music. From the cathedral to the duchy, via the temple and the new concert hall “L’Ombrière”, Les Nuits Musicales d’Uzès offers an outstanding artistic programme throughout the year.

The festival is a privileged partner of Les Ombres since 2015.
